The Ministry of Economic Development said that the volume of the Russian animation market could reach 40 billion rubles by 2029

The department noted that in 2021 the Ministry of Economic Development and the Russian Export Center allocated 500 million rubles to support animation studios, which is 200 million rubles more than in 2020, TASS reports.

The volume of the Russian animation market, while maintaining the current dynamics, can reach 40 billion rubles by 2029. Director of the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Natalya Stapran said this on Monday during her speech at the international online exhibition of the film industry, animation and television TIFFCOM.

“The Russian animation market continues to expand. If the current growth rate of 20% per year continues, then by 2029 the Russian animation market may reach 40 billion rubles. The Russian government is also supporting our animation studios. This year, the Ministry of Economic Development and the Russian Export Center allocated 500 million rubles for these purposes, which is 200 million rubles more than last year, “Stapran emphasized.

Then the head of the International Development and Sales Department of the film studio “Soyuzmultfilm” Marina Povkh made a presentation. “We have reached the production rate of 1,000 minutes of animation per year, and now 17 new Soyuzmultfilm projects are under development,” said Povkh. “In addition, we continue to strengthen our international positions by posting our works on various platforms for their subsequent broadcasting with the aim of expanding the audience. ”

The online exhibition was also attended by representatives of the Russian animation studios Melnitsa, Agama Film and the Riki group of companies.

TIFFCOM has been held since 2005 and is one of the largest platforms in Asia dedicated to achievements in the film industry, animation and television. The work of the current exhibition will run from November 1 to November 3. Russia takes part in TIFFCOM for the second time since 2020.

The Opening of the Platform of Author’s Russian Animation will take place in December 2021.The project “Social platform for children and parents, uniting and popularizing the best works of Russian author’s animation for 30 years” is carried out using a grant from the President of the Russian Federation provided by the Presidential Grants Fund.
