Seminar Brings Together Scientists and Animation Studios to Create Science-Based Children’s Content

On November 6, 2025, the “Boiling Point – Commune” space at MISIS University hosted a seminar dedicated to the development of children’s animation based on contemporary scientific knowledge. The event served as a platform for dialogue between government institutions, research organizations and the animation industry.
Opening remarks were delivered by Irina Mastusova, Executive Director of the Association of Animated Cinema, Denis Sekirinsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, and Gleb Fedorov, Chief Producer of the National Priorities organization. They emphasized the importance of supporting projects that help introduce scientific concepts to children in an engaging and accessible form.
The seminar brought together representatives from the creative industry, including Aleсeya Volkova, CEO of AUTHOR Foundation, and Matvey Zubov, Senior Editor of the scriptwriting division of the EKSMO-AST publishing group, who presented opportunities for collaboration between authors and content producers.
Researchers and experts from Skoltech, the R&D divisions of Rosatom State Corporation, the Russian Quantum Center, Roscosmos Media, United Aircraft Corporation, Geoscan Group, United Engine Corporation, MISIS University, Timiryazev Agricultural Academy and MIPT shared scientific concepts and developments with potential for adaptation into animated storylines. Discussions covered topics ranging from space exploration and quantum optics to bioprinting in microgravity, advanced aviation technologies, plant breeding innovations and AI-based environmental modeling.
A key part of the program was a pitch session where leading animation studios presented upcoming projects with educational and scientific elements. Among the participants were Studio Voronezh, YARKO, Riki Group, Soyuzmultfilm, Klaxon Production, LUX CINEMA, Rocket Fox, StoryHunters, 4MEDS, EVA Group, MASTER-FILM in collaboration with GITR, Kolobanga, AistMedia, First Project, Childhood Animation and Not Alone Production. Producers showcased concepts for new animated series aimed at sparking curiosity and interest in science among children.
The seminar highlighted the growing need for systematic cooperation between the scientific community and the creators of children’s content. Participants expressed their intention to continue joint work and exchange of materials that will help inspire young audiences to explore, create and engage with modern technologies.
