Senator Igor Murog Highlights Importance of State Support for Animation

Full state funding for children’s animated films creates new opportunities for regional development and the formation of animation clusters, according to Igor Murog, a member of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education and Culture.

According to the senator, the measure could provide a strong boost to the industry. It is expected to encourage the creation of new studios, expand employment opportunities for young professionals, and accelerate the adoption of modern technologies and digital solutions.
Murog emphasized the regional dimension of the initiative. In his view, government support will enable regions to develop their own animation clusters, strengthening both cultural and economic capacity across the country.
At the same time, he stressed the importance of maintaining a balance between public funding and a competitive environment. Supporting national projects should not come at the expense of creative freedom or the economic sustainability of the industry.
The senator also noted that high-quality domestic animation can help reduce the influence of foreign media content on children and contribute to the formation of values rooted in national cultural traditions.
In addition, the development of animation may stimulate related cultural sectors, including children’s literature, music, and visual arts. In the future, support measures could be extended to a broader range of age groups, helping to build a sustainable ecosystem for children’s and family-oriented content capable of competing globally.
