‘Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End’ Season 2 Trailer Premieres at Anime Expo

One of the biggest highlights of Anime Expo in Los Angeles this weekend was the exclusive global premiere of the Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 trailer, revealed during a special Crunchyroll panel held at the Peacock Theater.
Alongside the trailer, Crunchyroll announced it has acquired global streaming rights (excluding Asia but including India and the Indian Subcontinent). The highly anticipated second season will stream worldwide in January 2026, simultaneously with its broadcast in Japan.
The panel featured key guests from the production team, including Stark’s Japanese voice actor Chiaki Kobayashi (Hell’s Paradise), producer Yuichiro Fukushi (One-Punch Man), and composer Evan Call (Violet Evergarden), who shared behind-the-scenes insights and their excitement about the upcoming season.
It was also confirmed that Tomoya Kitagawa, who previously directed multiple episodes and worked on storyboards for Season 1, will direct Season 2. Keiichiro Saito (BOCCHI THE ROCK!), who directed the first season, will return as supervising director.
The creative team also includes assistant director Daiki Harashina (takt op. Destiny), series composer Tomohiro Suzuki (One-Punch Man), character designers Takasemaru (Violet Evergarden), Keisuke Kojima (100 Meters), and Yuri Fujinaka (SPY x FAMILY CODE: White), with concept art by Seiko Yoshioka (Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo). Evan Call will also return to compose the music.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is produced by acclaimed animation studio Madhouse, known for titles such as Death Note, OVERLORD, Yu Yu Hakusho, Trigun, Paranoia Agent, and One-Punch Man (Season 1).
The first season of Frieren was met with critical acclaim and won several awards at the 9th Annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards, including Best Drama, Best Director (Keiichiro Saito), Best Background Art, and Best Supporting Character. It was also nominated for Anime of the Year.
Season 1 is currently available for streaming on Crunchyroll and can be purchased on Blu-ray via the Crunchyroll Store, along with other merchandise and the original manga.
