RAFA at Beijing Film Academy Animation Awards business session

RAFA CEO  Irina Mastusova took part in the International Animation Forum in Beijing, which was held as part of the business program of the  Beijing Film Academy Animation Awards. The Animation Award was established in 2001, it is awarded for the best animated short films created by students from all over the world.

In her report, Irina Mastusova emphasized cooperation with the Chinese animation film industry, the expansion of joint educational programs and cultural exchange in the field of animated films between the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China.

Major Russian studios are developing their brands in China, signing contracts with leading Chinese distributors, and Russian animated series are available on Chinese TV channels and VOD platforms. In the summer of 2024, cooperation agreements were signed between the Animation Association of China and the Animation Film Association of Russia. The cross animation days of Russia and China are in the process of implementation.
By decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, 2024-2025 have been declared the Years of Culture of Russia and China, which provides new opportunities for the exchange of experience and cooperation, including in the field of animation production. During the BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping instructed to prepare a memorandum on the development of joint Russian-Chinese film production.

Irina Mastusova’s speech became resonant for the Chinese animation film industry community. The Beijing Film Academy Animation Awards brought together experts, professors, scientists, famous directors, young authors and enthusiasts of world animation who are interested in strengthening creative and business ties with Russia.
