RAFA sums up the eventful year of 2024.
RAFA CEO Irina Mastusova sums up the results of 2024: ‘The animation industry continues to adequately address the challenges of import substitution of foreign content both in feature films and in the serial segment. More than 10 animated features are released annually at theaters and domestic animated characters are beginning to prevail in television audience ratings. Russian animation brands remain the leaders in audio-visual content export sales, accounting for 76% of exports in 2024. We are expanding the formats of international cooperation, and this year we have signed Memorandums of Understanding with the relevant animation associations of China, South Korea and Indonesia, which will facilitate the distribution and co-production of content.’
In 2024 representatives of the Association took part in a number of industry events of the creative sector of the economy, international film markets: iABC-2024, CICAF (Hangzhou), Dubai International Content Market, Kids Russia & Licensing World Russia, World Content Market, festivals and related business program.
RAFA organized pitchings at the cinema markets of China (Hangzhou) and South Korea (Seoul), conducted pitchings of animation projects at the Moscow Licensing Summit, Kids Russia, World of Childhood exhibitions, the international World Content Market, etc.
In 2024, new members joined the ranks of the RAFA, which included 16 new studios.
The year 2024 was marked by the dynamic development of personnel training in the animation film industry and the holding of a number of events aimed at increasing the number of specialized specialists.
