‘Watercolor Paints’ animated series in the competition of the 30th edition of International Film Festival ‘Literature and Cinema’

‘Watercolor Paints’ animated series produced by RAFA entered the animation competition program of the 30th edition of International Film Festival ‘Literature and Cinema’. The festival will be hosted from July 3-7 in the capital of the Leningrad region, Gatchina. The screening program includes film adaptations of works of classical and modern Russian and foreign literature, as well as paintings about the life and work of poets and writers.
‘Watercolor Paints’ animated series “Watercolor Paints” were created by children’s animation studios with the support and supervision of professionals – writer Anna Vladislavskaya, composer Ilya Trukhanov and director Natalia Nilova. ‘Watercolor Paints’ consists of 20 episodes, each of which adapts a story or a fairy tale by the outstanding Russian writer Konstantin Paustovsky. The last film adaptations of Paustovsky’s works took place in the XX century, so the animated series is especially attractive for young viewers. The project of RAFA was supported by the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives and thePaustovsky Museum.
In total, more than two hundred applications were sent to the competition. The geography is extensive and covers almost all regions of Russia from the Northwest to the Far East, and the list also includes works from the Baltic States, Belarus and Serbia, which once again confirms the international status of the festival. As a result of the selection, 56 films entered the competition program, almost twice as many as last year. Among the works are features by both professional authors and large studios, as well as debutants’ short-meters. For the first time in the history of the film festival, the competition program includes TV series adaptations.
