By the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory in WWII SMF Studio will present 20 animated films in restored quality

To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory in WWII SMF will present 20 animated films that were created during the years of hostilities and in the post-war period. The restoration includes the elimination of technical defects caused by the natural aging of the film. In honor of the festive date, the restored toons will be screened as part of special screenings and events.
‘Wartime and post–war cartoons occupy a significant place in the history of Russian animation – this stage formed the unique style of many Russian masters and the leitmotif of humanism that permeates many domestic films,’ said Juliana Slashcheva, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SMF Studio. ‘Thanks to the restoration work, these films will return to the big screen and allow viewers to watch them together. The authors try to experience a range of feelings – from a pathetic uplift to bright sadness and gratitude. Many of these cartoons were created in very difficult conditions, but they still make up the golden fund of our animation.’
The collection of restored films will consist of several blocks – animated ‘propaganda’ films, tapes produced during the evacuation to Samarkand , as well as paintings created in the post–war years dedicated to the memory of WWII.
SMF Studio is working to preserve and restore the classics of Russian animation on an ongoing basis. Over the years, over 80 films have been produced for theatrical screening.
