“ANIMATIKA” IN ARTEK – FESTIVAL OF FRIENDSHIP AND ANIMATION

The 5th Animatika International Children’s Animation Film Festival will be held at Artek International Children’s Center from 13 to 19 August 2022.

The Animatika project brings together an international competition for children’s cartoons and an animation film festival, which is held annually by the Russian Animation Film Association with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation in conjunction with the Artek International Children’s Center. This year, the theme of the competition preceding the festival was “Peter the Great – the First.” The organizers received a record number of applications from young animators from all over the country – more than 130, from which the professional jury selected 11 best cartoons. Their authors, 25 winners from different regions, including Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg and Sverdlovsk Region, Donetsk, Saratov, Voronezh, Moscow Region, Perm and Stavropol Territories, received vouchers for the ninth shift of Artek.

“Together with the Russian Animated Film Association, we are implementing a project that helps children reveal their abilities. Cartoons form the inner world of a child, open up new worlds, unite and develop. And it’s great that real professionals share their love for animated films in Artek, on whose works whole generations of young viewers will grow up. I am sure that children’s works created during the festival will be a reason to be proud of our talented Artek residents. And the Animatika festival itself will provide experience that will become decisive for many children in their professional choice and will bring new talented personnel to the industry,” says Konstantin Fedorenko, director of the Artek International Children’s Center.

Practical classes at Animatica are devoted to different stages of creating a cartoon, they are as exciting as possible and give applied skills to the animator profession. One of the most valuable and unique formats of Animatika is foresight sessions. At them, children will receive a detailed analysis of the cartoons-winners of the competition from the guests of honor of the festival and professional advice from animation directors. Another traditional format for Animatika is animation workshops, where children, under the guidance of experienced animators, will have to come up with and release their own animated film.
