Golden Monkey King Winners Announced in Hangzhou, China

The winners of the Golden Monkey King Awards, the highest honor in the Chinese cartoon and animation industry, were announced at the 17th China International Cartoon and Animation Festival (CICAF). The Golden Monkey King Awards ceremony took place in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province on September 29, 2021.

According to the organizers, 89 works from 1,176 original works from 16 countries and regions have been shortlisted for this year for short animated films, cartoons and comics. Congratulations to Tweet-Tweet from Timur Bekmambetov Cultural Initiatives Foundation, and Fairyteens High Heels from Agama Film, which are shortlisted and got the Certificate of Nomination.!

In addition to the two usual categories, General Awards and Promising Awards, this year’s ceremony specifically added the “Red Animation Awards” to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party.

“Tsun Wei Bian Guo” (“Never Changed”), created by China Media Group, along with the animations “Xiajiang: A Dream of Clear Water and Lush Mountain”, “The King’s Diaries” and “The Rising Dragon of the East” won special awards this year … The animated series “Footprints in the Snowy Forest”, the short animated film “Taste in the House” and the comic strip “The Story of a Red Boat” won gold awards at the General Awards.

Applications for the 2022 CICAF Golden Monkey King competition will open at the end of November this year.
