The main competition program of the Voronezh International Animation Festival has been announced

Voronezh International Film Festival

The official selection program of the Voronezh International Animation Festival has been announced. The first edition of the festival will be hosted in Voronezh on May 19-21, 2023. The competition program includes full-meter features, short-meter animated films and animated series created no earlier than January 1, 2021.

The selection committee of the festival reviewed more than 800 applications from 78 countries. The competition program included 99 films from 25 countries. Among them are 5 full-length cartoons, 71 short animated films and 23 series of animated series.

The jury will include well-known figures of the animation and film industry: animation film producer Zhu Wenbo (China), director, playwright and professor Dragan Milinkovic (Serbia), Chairman of the Beijing International Children’s Film Festival Gavin Li (China), President of the Academy of Television and Radio of Armenia Armine Avdalyan (Armenia), director, artist, animator Natalia Grofpel (Russia) and director, screenwriter of animated films Alexey Tsitsilin (Russia). The chairman of the jury will be the Iranian director-animator and winner of international festivals Omid Khoshnazar.

The professional jury of the festival will distribute prizes in ten categories, including the Grand Prix of the festival, prizes in various age categories and prizes for the best full-length, short and serial animation project. In addition to works from professional animation studios, student works were also submitted to the festival, in connection with which the festival directorate decided to add the nomination ‘Best Student Work’.

The Voronezh International Animation Festival will be a screening of modern professional domestic and world animated films for children, teenagers and adults. A special feature of the festival will be its format of a workshop, which will include master classes and Q&A sessions for a wide audience from leading specialists of the Voronezh Animation Studio and recognized professionals of the international animation industry.

The closing ceremony of the festival will take place on May 21, 2023 in the concert hall of the Voronezh State Institute of Arts. The program includes an award ceremony, a music and light show and a symphony orchestra gig.
