The Moscow video games and animation cluster opens in the capital

Moscow has launched the first stage of the Moscow video games and animation cluster, inaugurated by Mayor Sergei Sobyanin in Skolkovo during the Moscow Video Games Week. The new space is a five-floor creative hub of over 55,000 square meters, offering full-cycle infrastructure that includes motion-capture and sound-recording studios, a cinema hall, conference areas and an exhibition zone. By 2026, the entire creative cluster is expected to expand to 129,000 square meters.
The project was developed with direct industry involvement and support from the Moscow Agency for Creative Industries, led by Gulnara Agamova, in partnership with key national media and technology organizations. The cluster is designed to provide a systematic support framework for studios and developers, including talent training, assistance for early-stage teams, international exhibition access, project promotion, partner search and export development.
A strategic cooperation agreement has been signed with the Institute for Internet Development, enabling integrated work between cluster residents and national industry contests. Future plans include data exchange, financial scoring for startups and potential fast-track access for residents within industry support programs. The venue will also serve as a permanent point of dialogue for the video games and animation communities, complementing the city’s existing creative ecosystem, including cooperation experience from the MosKino.
The opening of the cluster marks a foundational milestone for the growth of Russian studios, development of 3D content of any complexity and strengthening the country’s presence in the global interactive entertainment market.
