On September 10–11, representatives of the Russian animation industry took part in the 7th Russian-Chinese Entrepreneurs Forum. The professional dialogue focused on the development of cultural and business cooperation between Russia and China, the promotion of Russian creative industries, and new opportunities for joint projects.

On September 10, Yuliana Slashcheva, Chair of the Board of the Animation Film Association, Chair of the Board of Directors of Soyuzmultfilm Studio, and Chair of the Culture Council of the Russian-Chinese Committee for Friendship, Peace and Development, took part in the Forum’s plenary session. The meeting brought together representatives of government authorities, the business community, and the Russian-Chinese Committee for Friendship, Peace and Development.

In her speech, Yuliana Slashcheva paid particular attention to the development of Russian-Chinese cooperation in animation and the results of the Culture Council’s work. One of the key events of 2026 was the First International Animation Week in Chongqing, where Soyuzmultfilm and the Animation Film Association participated as guests of honour. A joint stand under the auspices of the Association showcased projects from 11 Russian studios working in children’s, family, and independent animation.

Another important stage in the professional dialogue was the participation of a Russian delegation representing 23 companies in the iABC International Animation and Games Business Conference in Hangzhou, held as part of the China International Cartoon & Animation Festival (CICAF). The festival also hosted the sixth pitching session for Russian animation projects.

Cooperation is also developing under the agreement between the Animation Film Association of Russia and the China Animation Association. Its key areas include the mutual exchange of animation content, the development of co-production and distribution, the exchange of professional expertise, and the use of artificial intelligence technologies in production.

On September 11, the professional dialogue continued during the Strategic Initiatives Agency session titled “Creative Industries in the Era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.” Irina Mastusova, Executive Director of the Animation Film Association, took part in the discussion.

Participants discussed the development of creative industries amid the technological transformation of the global economy and the expansion of Russian-Chinese cooperation in this field. Particular attention was paid to the international potential of Russian brands, the preservation of cultural identity, the adoption of digital technologies, and the development of new models of cooperation between government, business, and the professional community.

The discussion also addressed approaches to the development and support of creative-industry projects in Russia and China, opportunities for bilateral and multilateral cooperation, and new international initiatives for industry professionals.

Participation in the two-day programme of the 7th Russian-Chinese Entrepreneurs Forum continued the systematic work aimed at strengthening professional ties between the Russian and Chinese animation industries, expanding opportunities for the international promotion of Russian projects, and developing long-term cooperation.
