Most Popular Animated Series Among Russian Audiences Revealed

Animated projects including Three Cats and Cheburashka have become the most popular titles among Russian viewers, according to a study conducted by the streaming platform Kion.

The research shows that audiences continue to favor established animation franchises with strong brand recognition. Among the leading titles is also Masha and the Bear, confirming sustained demand for familiar and long-running family content.

According to the study, interest in domestic animation grew by more than 20 percent in the first quarter of 2026 compared with the same period in 2025. Animated programming now represents a substantial share of total content consumption on the platform.

The report also highlights high rewatch rates among viewers. Audiences are more likely to return to previously watched titles than explore newly released projects. The animated special Umka on the Christmas Tree ranked first in repeat viewings, while “Three Cats” maintained its position as the platform’s overall most-watched animated project.

Short-form musical content for children also demonstrated strong performance, reflecting continued engagement among younger audiences and family viewers.

Industry specialists note that demand for Russian animation remains stable and continues to grow, particularly within children’s and family-oriented programming.
