On 1 June 2026, the Russian Animated Film Association launched the project Cartoons About What Matters Most, supported by the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives.

As part of the project, 15 animated shorts for children and teenagers will be produced. The films will focus on traditional Russian spiritual, moral and cultural values and are based on the principles outlined in Presidential Decree No. 809, “On the Foundations of State Policy for the Preservation and Strengthening of Traditional Russian Spiritual and Moral Values.”

The animated films will address such themes as patriotism, citizenship, service to the country, strong family values, constructive work, compassion, justice, mutual assistance, respect for elders, historical memory, continuity between generations and the unity of the peoples of Russia.

The project team aims to present complex moral and ethical topics in a way that is accessible and engaging for young audiences. Through animation, memorable characters and storytelling, the films will introduce important values through situations and narratives that children can easily understand and relate to.

Production will take place at the Animation and Design Departments of the Ivan Fedorov Moscow Publishing and Printing College. Professional scriptwriting and music specialists will also take part in the project.

Upon completion, the animated shorts will be made available to a wide audience. Screenings are planned across social media platforms, television, creative and educational centres, museums, cinemas and libraries throughout Russia.

The project is intended to promote traditional values through contemporary Russian animation and to create high-quality educational content for children and teenagers.
