In 2026, Roskino and Soyuzmultfilm Film Studio, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, will present a series of international screenings of Russian animated films to celebrate the studio’s 90th anniversary.
The anniversary program will begin in Serbia, where audiences will have the opportunity to discover both classic Soviet and Russian animated films and contemporary auteur animation projects. The program will also include animation workshops and meetings with filmmakers.
According to Roskino CEO Elza Antonova, Russian animation continues to strengthen its position in international markets and enjoys sustained interest from audiences around the world.
The anniversary screenings will showcase some of Soyuzmultfilm’s most beloved classics, including Gena the Crocodile, The Mitten, Well, Just You Wait! and Umka. Alongside these iconic films, audiences will be introduced to more recent productions that have received recognition from both professionals and viewers, including Warm Star, Vivat, Musketeers!, Two Trams, and Kind Heart.
Yuliana Slashcheva, Chair of the Board of Directors of Soyuzmultfilm and Chair of the Board of the Russian Animated Film Association, noted that the international screening program will become an important part of the studio’s anniversary celebrations and will give international audiences an opportunity to discover both the rich heritage of Russian animation and its contemporary achievements.
