Russians Name Art Historians, Writers, and Actors as the Most In-Demand Cultural Professions

In celebration of Cultural Worker’s Day, the online cinema KION and the “Culture.RF” project conducted a joint study to identify which creative professions Russians find most attractive.

Top 3 Professions
The survey included more than 800 employed respondents aged 18 to over 43. The leading professions were:
Art historian and cultural studies specialist — 48.6%
Writer or poet — 38.3%
Theater and film actor — 37.6%
Less popular fields included visual arts, music, playwriting, choreography, and photography.

The Role of Culture in Society
A majority of respondents (60.3%) believe that culture primarily shapes individual identity and contributes to societal development.
According to participants, the most influential cultural domains are:
Literature — 43.1%
Music — 23.3%
Cinema — 21%
Theater — 7%

The findings highlight a strong appreciation for intellectual and performance-based professions, as well as the enduring importance of culture in shaping both individuals and society as a whole.
